Project of the Year

Our Project of the Year Award went to Kerr Office Group for the Improve International project.

This design-led initiative, which utilised Forbo’s extensive range of products, integrates a diverse array of flooring types, including various carpets and vinyls, emphasising sustainable and hygienic solutions ideal for a veterinary setting.

By creating a facility that supports both learning and professional development, they significantly contributed to the growth of Improve International and setting a new benchmark for veterinary care globally.

Sustainable Project of the Year

The Sustainable Project of the Year Award was given to Ansell & Bailey Architects for the Hammersmith Oncology Wards project.

Natural imagery and calming colours were a central part of the design brief, and to this end, architects, Ansell and Bailey, specified a range of Forbo Flooring Systems’ flooring, including its climate positive (carbon negative) Marmoleum floor covering.

Enso Student Accommodation

Ekho Studio

For the project concept, the Ekho Studio team took primary
inspiration from a sense of place, focusing particularly on Colchester’s rich historic Roman past.

A second thread is nature, with Colchester and the surrounding countryside full of strong textures and dramatic forms and colours. The colour palette fuses Roman-era references with local natural
colours, celebrating earthy and warm tones.

Every corner of Enso has been designed to celebrate and help protect its environment. Marmoleum is the grounding material that links the spaces together.

Johnson Ribolla

The “Kids Quarter” in “Thames Quarter” has transformed a previously underutilised, windowless storeroom into a vibrant and joyful space for young residents. The design employs various tones of green Marmoleum from the Real, Fresco, and Walton ranges.

Rather than segregating different activities and age groups, these hues collectively contribute to the lively atmosphere of the area.

In stark contrast to the bright Marmoleum, the screening zone is defined by dark Flotex. This contrast effectively delineates the area where children are meant to sit on the floor for movie watching or engage with more abstract seating options.

Story Design

Forbo's Marmoleum Cocoa was a significant part of the specification
for this project, providing a sustainable, attractive solution that gave the design freedom to create the effect hoped for, particularly with the aquajet-cut elements.

The narrative for the scheme was one of the worldwide community and inclusion, and used circular forms and warm, spicy colours to help reinforce this. Marmoleum Cocoa has contributed significantly to the impact that the final project has achieved, with both the University and its students being delighted with the finished result.
