Our Marmoleum Acoustic floors reduce impact sound by 14 dB (ISO 717-2). Marmoleum Acoustic is a twinlayer floor covering with a build-up from 2 mm Marmoleum and a 2 mm Corkment backing.

A Corkment underlay can be used in combination with regular Marmoleum to achieve an impact sound reduction of 14dB. First the Corkment should be installed - with the jute side up - at right angles to the same direction as that of the Marmoleum sheet.

Within our linoleum flooring range, Marmoleum Decibel provides the highest impact sound reduction of 18dB.

This sustainable acoustic flooring consists of 2.5 mm Marmoleum laminated onto a 1 mm layer of polyolefin foam. Available in 27 colors selected from the Marmoleum Marbled and Solid collections.

Forbo Marmoleum Acoustic reduces impact sound by 14dB (measured in accordance with EN ISO 717-2). It is a twinlayer linoleum built up from 2 mm Marmoleum and a 2 mm Corkment backing. Marmoleum Acoustic is available in 6 colors from the Marmoleum Marbled collection.

Because sound travels easily through floor structures, installing the right acoustic flooring is essential for improving indoor comfort.

The best way to reduce sound is at the source. That’s why acoustic floors are key when it comes to reducing noise in buildings.

Impact sound reduction, how does it work?
Impact sound generated in a room easily travels through the floor into the rooms below. To assess the acoustic performance of a floor covering, impact noise is produced using a hammer machine on a concrete floor slab in an emission room. The resulting sound level (S1) is measured in the reception room below.

The floor covering is then installed on the concrete slab and the same test is repeated. The new sound level (S2) is recorded, and the impact sound reduction is calculated in accordance with EN ISO 717-2 as the difference, in decibels, between the two measurements.

Therefore, Marmoleum is climate positive (or carbon negative) from cradle to gate.
