Honouring the Projects That Shape the Future of Design
The Forbo Awards celebrate the designers, architects, and creators who push boundaries and elevate the spaces we live, work, and play in. From bold material choices to thoughtful sustainability strategies, these awards spotlight the very best in contemporary design.
This year, we’re proud to partner with Material Source, bringing even greater visibility, storytelling, and industry reach to our winners.
The competition is divided into three standout categories, each celebrating a different facet of design excellence:
- Project of the Year
- Sustainability Project of the Year
- Public Choice Award
Whether your work leads through innovation, champions environmental responsibility, or captures the hearts of the public, each category recognises a unique contribution to design.

Forbo Award Trophy
Our Project of the Year Award went to Fidget UK Ltd for The Edge.
The Edge in Whitehaven is a bold new space inspired by its dramatic costal surroundings and designed to look like the sandstone pebbles washed up onto the harbour side during high seas.
The three-storey building appeals to a wide variety of audiences such as walkers and cyclists, a range of water sport users, to local community groups and tourists. Offering modern facilities, including hotel and hospitality spaces, changing facilities for local water sports clubs, a café, and an art space for wider community use.

The Sustainable Project of the Year Award was given to Westworks Interior Ltd for the vocoZeal Hotel.
vocoZeal, ESP is Western Europe’s first net zero carbon hotel. Emphasising sustainability, the hotel incorporates high-quality interior design alongside a fossil-free building services system, ensuring zero onsite combustion.
The landscaping includes herb gardens, green and brown roofs, and extensive ecological habitat improvements, further contributing to the project's environmental credentials. This pioneering approach places sustainability at the core of the hospitality industry, setting a precedent for net zero carbon hotels.

The Public Vote Award goes to Harvey Maria for the National Maritime Museum
The custom-printed Spilhaus ocean map floor at the National Maritime Museum is a stunning convergence of design and innovation. The choice of flooring material was integral to the project's success - its durability and clarity perfectly supported the map's intricate detail and vibrant colour.
This installation not only honours oceanographic history but transforms it into a walkable, educational experience!
The Forbo Awards terms and conditions must be read and accepted by all entrants and it is essential that all entries made meet these requirements.
